Discover Our Story

Shifu is based on M.r Ping’s 30-year career as a restaurateur. He started his journey as a dishwasher to owning his restaurant, Chez Ping, in Montreal, Canada. As a head chef, he has always prioritized the taste and quality of his dishes.

The Chez Ping restaurant faced operational, marketing and administrative issues due to the language barrier and lack of resources. The Covid lockdown forced the business to find external help to guarantee the company’s longevity. This is where his sons Henry and Kelvin came in to support the business and revamp the restaurant.

Imagine you have a food craving for Chinese food. You walk into a Chinese restaurant, and you’re immediately greeted by someone who is not proficient in English or French. You sit down, and you’re given a very thick menu booklet containing hundreds of menu items that are not translated correctly. You spend 15-20 minutes scrambling through the menu because you’re confused about what to order. You end up randomly choosing an item, hoping you made the right choice.
